Very much horror still however, expect blood and gore.

Introduction:

I'm Vera (Pictured on the right!)

I'm 14 and... a witch.

I think, it's never really been clear to me.

I grew up in Slaughterville. Home of mystery, murders, and generally everything creepy. It's that reputation of ours that makes us so famous though. You wouldn't have your Camp Quartz Lakes or your Birch Streets if it weren't for us, death gravitates here like a black hole. Real murders and accidents becoming feature flicks for the masses to enjoy.

It's a strange thing, celebrating death so much when it's so present in daily life. Especially us, I mean the name "Slaughterville"? I guess we kind of own it. Especially my parents, my mom's a psychic and my dad's a horror prop designer.

As for me... I love it all too. To re-invent a tragedy as something to be memorialized and instead to be a celebration? I think it's amazing!

Can't say it has the same admiration for me though...

Everyone thinks I'm gonna be the next monster of the week who's gonna be turned into a film. I mean when someone is struck by lightning at your 3rd birthday party or torched by your volcano at the science fair it's kind of hard to fight the allegations. Especially when the deaths I've been suspiciously near and related to seems to go up exponentially by the year.

Only the future knows I guess...

Characters:

Vera Lily: "Hahahah.... he blew up in fireball!" An 8th Grade witch?  Vera is outcasted by the town for being a "General Health Hazard". As for magic? She doesn't have any, but she seemingly brings calamity where she walks. Despite the ruthless bullying on a daily basis, she tries to maintain an optimistic view on things. 

Everything seems hopeless for a horror loving little witch until one fateful Halloween night... and a 20-foot tumble off a cliff.

Sackface: "*Heavy Breathing*" Real name "???". A hulking figure of a man, yet silent as a mouse. He's a walking, talking, breathing stereotype of a slasher. Bullets? Knives? Nothing seems to work on him, a one-man army. An army that seems dead set on strangling the life out of Vera.

Skelefresh: "*Nyeheheeh*! You've entered my domain foolish human!" Real name "Morgan Good". He's a talking spiritually possessed skeleton head! Adorned with the finest of feather caps! He claims to possess ancient magics, the likes of which could tear apart reality! Instead of doing that though he bums around in a sealed cave all day cracking skeleton jokes to any sucker trapped with him.

Death:

Everyone dies eventually... and that kind of blows.

Vera is no exception to this rule, she's just as stabbable, crushable, splatterable, burnable, meltable, biteable, shootable, and whatever -able else there is, just like the rest of us.

When she gets her brains blown out, she bites the big one just like anyone.

However, she does have one trick up her sleeve, well rather someone else does.

For whatever reason something... or someone is trying to keep Vera alive at any costs necessary. 

So, whether she has her insides liquified by spiders and or has her head lopped off by a sackheaded fellow she'll always return, and just a little bit more knowledgeable too!

Or who knows maybe she can get through it all without even dying once.

This being a Spooktober game jam project this won't be coming out until October.... but that doesn't mean there's nothing for you guys to do! Slaughterville is a big town with even bigger mysteries. Why do so many murders happen here? Why is Vera cursed? 

Maybe something here can answer those questions....(hint, hint, nudge, nudge)

With media conglomerates, murderers and monsters on the loose does Vera have any hope of making it through this Halloween?
